About the Role

As an Aged Care Home & Community Assistant, you will be providing personalised support to older Australians who reside around Bundaberg & surrounding local suburbs. The shifts are short, split shifts with no evening, weekend or sleepover shifts as working hours are always between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. You are required to travel as you will support multiple clients a day within their home.

This is a permanent part time opportunity, offering a minimum of 25 hours a fortnight.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Domestic assistance duties. This consists of light cleaning duties, changing of bed linen, washing/laundry
  • In-home supports inclusive of meal preparation and assistance with daily living
  • Personal care inclusive of showering, daily hygiene, monitoring of health and well-being (for example, identification of wound care needs, skin integrity, etc)
  • Social supports inclusive of support to attend medical appointments, social activities in the local community, building/maintaining social networks

 
Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or similar) is required  
  • Passionate about making a positive impact in our ageing community
  • An Australian Driver’s Licence and ownership of a registered vehicle
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate (must be obtained prior to employment)

Successful candidates will be required to undertake relevant pre-employment checks to ensure the safety of our clients. This includes a National Criminal History Record Check and complete a statutory declaration.

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.
