About the Role
Join our team as a Casual Disability Support Worker in Albury/Wodonga, supporting people with a diverse range of needs in our Supported Independent Living (SIL) program.
You'll work across two homes supporting individuals with a range of needs, from those requiring prompting daily living support and encouragement to engage in community activities, through to participants with complex medical needs and behaviours of concern. Training and ongoing support will be provided, making this a great opportunity for both experienced and entry-level support workers.
Successful candidates must be available to work a variety of shifts, including afternoon shifts, sleepovers and morning shifts across a 7-day roster. A typical sleepover shift will be from 3pm – 9am the following day (3pm to 10pm, sleepover 10pm to 6am, and 6am to 9am).
Key Responsibilities
- Follow person-centred support and behaviour plans
- Provide support with a range of daily personal activities
- Facilitate coordination and engagement in meaningful activities and social activities
- Maintain thorough record keeping
- Build positive relationships with the people we support, families and colleagues
- Advocate for client choice and control
- Assist with peg feeding and catheter care, focusing on comfort and safety, with training available for those new to the tasks
Skills & Experience
- Experience working with people with disability is desirable but not essential (training will be provided for complex behaviour and support needs which may include physical and verbal abuse)
- Manual Handling and Hoisting experience
- Confidence in driving a large wheelchair van
- An unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
- A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
