About the role
As part of our Sydney team, you will provide direct therapeutic support to Children, Young People, Families & Carers engaged within our Family Based Care and Intensive Therapeutic Care Services.
You will coordinate and deliver high-quality assessment, consultative and referral services to support the development for Children & Young People in our care who have backgrounds of complex trauma, abuse and/or neglect, and in some cases physical and/or psychosocial disabilities requiring support.
You will also support our team through provision of reviews, providing therapeutic supervision, and leading reflective practice.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity. This role is based in Sydney with hybrid working arrangements. There is also some flexibility around start and finish times.
Regular travel throughout Sydney will be required. There is a pool car available, however, mileage will be reimbursed if required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead therapeutic assessments and planning through comprehensive assessments and Positive Behaviour Support Plans
- Develop, review and support implementation of relevant therapeutic support plans, such as Positive Behaviour Support Plans
- Provide therapeutic expertise and guidance to support managers with reflective practice, and facilitate the development of effective strategies to prevent and respond to pain-based behaviour for young people
- Develop a thorough working knowledge of the CARE and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) models to deliver training as required
- Advocate and lead ethical, evidence-informed therapeutic practice, in alignment with the CARE and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) models
- Proactively engage and collaborate with relevant internal and external stakeholders
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or other related discipline.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the professional body relevant to your qualification.
- Experience using evidence-based assessment tools with young people with trauma informed behaviour
- Ability to develop and promote positive person-centred behaviour supports
- Current Driver’s Licence and car
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
