Role: Family Support Practitioner x 4
Employment Type: Permanent full-time position
Location: Taree
As a Family Support Practitioner, you will support families referred by DCJ to achieve positive outcomes, including family preservation and reunification. You’ll do this through effective case management, strong relationship-building, and by fostering supportive connections with children, young people, and their parents or caregivers.
This is a newly created role within our Families Together program. The position includes local travel across the region, and offers flexibility to work from home one day per week.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain functional and supportive relationships with children and young people and their parents/caregivers to promote positive outcomes of preservation or reunification
- Deliver services to children and young people that considers their trauma history and background to help identify and understand behaviours in the context of their story
- Connect with referred families as soon as possible to build a therapeutic relationship based on the strengths and needs of the family.
- Develop and implement high quality Family Action Plans
- Undertake Relationship based social casework utilising the Common Elements framework of practice in partnership with family to develop SMART Family Action Plan goals
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders and participate in relevant stakeholder meetings
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology or Human Services
- Current Australian drivers’ licence.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals, families and/or groups from strength-based, culturally appropriate perspective.
- Demonstrated understanding of current casework practice for children, young people and families.
- Highly developed analytical skills and the ability to apply these skills in case management.
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and NSW Working with Children Check, and Residential Workers Screening check.
