Role: Child & Family Practitioner
Location: Rocherlea
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
We are expanding our services and are looking for a dedicated and experienced Child & Family Practitioner to join our team. In this role, you will deliver high quality casework, support and supervision to children and young people in family-based care, including Foster and Kinship Care.
You will work closely with carers, children and young people, government agencies and community partners to develop, implement and review individualised care plans.
The role is vital in promoting placement stability and prioritising the safety, wellbeing and cultural needs of children and young people in care.

Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake child-focused casework practice, including assessment and case planning, in collaboration with government agencies, carers, children, families and key stakeholders
- Provide ongoing support and supervision to Foster and Kinship Carers, including home visits and telephone support
- Support the development, implementation and review of Cultural Support Plans
- Assist carers to actively participate in the case planning process and implement agreed strategies
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments, safety plans, behavioural support plans and documentation are completed and maintained
- Maintain accurate, timely and compliant records, including carer renewals, foster care agreements and case notes within the CIRTS database
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment and uphold Life Without Barriers’ CARE model and practice framework
Skills & Experience
- A recognised Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related human services field
- Demonstrated experience within child protection ideally within an out of home care environment, and/or supporting foster and kinship carers
- Experience working with children, families and carers using a strength-based, culturally responsive approach
- Ability to work within a cohesive, but geographically dispersed multidisciplinary team
- High level written and verbal communication skills, including case documentation
- Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural frameworks and practice
- A current, unrestricted driver’s licence
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, and TAS Working with Vulnerable People check.
