About the role

Are you a passionate and experienced leader ready to make a meaningful impact? Join our dedicated Family Based Care Program as an Operations Manager, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting foster carers and improving outcomes for vulnerable children across Victoria.

In this role, you’ll lead a team of skilled Child and Family Practitioners, providing guidance, oversight, and support to ensure the highest quality care. You’ll have the flexibility to work from anywhere in Victoria, with regular visits to our VIC offices and some travel to regional placement locations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day management of the Family Based Care Program, including budgets, staffing, and reporting
  • Leading, motivating, and developing a high-performing team focused on client outcomes and quality service delivery
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, foster carers, and community partners
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, quality standards, and child protection policies
  • Driving continuous improvement, growth, and innovation within the program
  • Acting as a proactive leader within the broader Victoria CYF team

What we’re looking for:

  • A degree in Human Services or a related discipline
  • Proven management experience in children’s services, preferably within out-of-home care
  • Strong knowledge of child protection frameworks and policies
  • Familiarity with TCI and CARE principles highly regarded
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • A strategic thinker who can respond effectively to local needs and challenges
  • Commitment to culturally safe practices, particularly when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Current driver’s licence and ability to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check
