About the role
The Operations Manager (Family Based Care) is responsible for the delivery and oversight of our Family Based Care Program.
Joining two well-established Operations Managers in the program, you will lead a team of Child and Family Practitioners to provide high quality support to foster cares across South Australia. Whilst the position is Adelaide-based (Unley), the successful applicant will be required to oversee placement support in some regional locations and is therefore expected to travel to these locations as required.
The role provides day-to-day management of the program, budgets, human resources, key performance indicators, contractual reporting, and stakeholder relationship management. The incumbent takes a proactive leadership role within the teams they are responsible for, but also within the wider SA CYF team. The Operations Manager is also responsible for driving high performing teams focusing on client outcomes, quality, standards, growth, and performance of each service.
This role will suit someone who is highly motivated, strategic, and able to quickly grasp and respond to local needs. You will have experience in leading services for vulnerable children and children in the out of home care system.
You will use your business acumen and interpersonal skills to engage and work with multiple stakeholders, as well as promote LWB as a quality service provider.
You will be instrumental in achieving our Strategy 2025 and Elevate RAP objectives. You are committed to the transition of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children in OOHC to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled Organisations.
Skills & Experience
- Degree qualification in Human Services or related discipline.
- Significant management experience in relevant Children's Services.
- Demonstrated understanding of Child Protection policies and framework.
- Familiarity with TCI and the CARE principles will be highly regarded.
- A demonstrated commitment to the care and protection of children and young people.
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership and development.
- Advanced interpersonal/communication skills, including verbal, written and negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability in time management and organisational skills.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use initiative, think laterally and strategically, and meet deadlines and produce quality work under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds with specific reference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Ability to manage issues, risks and contentious matters.
- Current Drivers Licence.
The ideal candidate will have experience in family-based care and / or child protection more broadly
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
