About the Role
You will provide culturally sensitive, evidence based counselling to individuals aged 12 and over from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds who are experiencing mild to moderate psychological distress. You’ll play a key role in empowering clients through a person-centred, strengths based approach.
This is a full-time or part-time maximum term position until 30 January 2026, with the likelihood of extension. The role is primarily based at our Leederville office, with regular travel required to Langford and Mirrabooka to support clients across service locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver face-to-face therapeutic counselling tailored to individual client needs.
- Use evidence-based, culturally responsive practices to support positive mental health outcomes.
- Identify and manage clinical risks and complex client issues.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in line with organisational and legislative standards.
- Provide relevant, structured feedback to referring practitioners and primary care providers.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and reflective practice.
- Uphold ethical standards in accordance with AASW, ACA, PACFA, or AHPRA frameworks.
- Foster strong working relationships with GPs, CALD communities, and partner services.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or a related field.
- Registration with AASW, ACA, PACFA, or AHPRA.
- Effectively communicate in English and one or more other languages (essential), and experience in working with language interpreters (preferred).Experience providing mental health support to clients from CALD backgrounds.
- Proficient in assessments and therapeutic interventions for mild to moderate mental health presentations.
- Skilled in managing client risk within a clinical governance framework.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Unrestricted driver’s licence (or willingness to discuss alternative arrangements).
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
