About the role
Reporting to the Safeguarding Incidents Manager, DMH you will manage high-risk safeguarding responses and oversee LWB’s national obligations for restrictive practices reporting and authorisation. Leading a team of up to 8 Safeguarding Incident Officers, you’ll ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory standards by supporting them in assessing, triaging, and reporting incidents to the NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission. You’ll also provide expert advice to help shape and maintain best practices in safeguarding.
This is a permanent, full-time position with flexible location. Occasional office attendance for meetings, workshops, and training is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of up to 8 Safeguarding Incident Officers in coordinating safeguarding responses to high-risk incidents, ensuring regulatory compliance in line with national legislation.
- Guide and coach Client Services staff on reportable incidents, compliance obligations, and quality reporting.
- Champion continuous improvement processes to uphold high standards and mitigate risks in safeguarding and incident reporting.
- Foster positive working relationships with stakeholders, including internal teams, regulatory bodies, and external partners.
- Provide expert advice on safeguarding frameworks, policy development, and national reporting obligations.
- Lead formal training sessions to educate staff on safeguarding practices, incident reporting, and risk management.
Skills & Experience
- A qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in reporting, risk, and compliance, particularly in the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.
- In-depth knowledge of restrictive practices reporting and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience leading and developing teams in a human services context.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated success in managing assurance activities and continuous improvement processes.
- Proficient ability in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
