About the role

In this role your Lived Experience within the services LWB deliver will be considered a significant asset. You will demonstrate empowering, inspiring, and collaborative leadership that drives the development and implementation of strategic innovation and engagement initiatives in community services resulting in improved Equity. You will ensure Lived Experience informs all facets of the organisation by leading the development, planning, and delivery of a Lived Experience Strategy, ensuring the human rights, voices, expectations, needs, and experiences of the people we support, along with their families and supporters, shape service delivery, policy, and continuous improvement and advocacy campaigns.

Reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer, with three direct reports within the Equity and Lived Experience Team, you will utilise your Lived Experience to amplify the voices of, advocate for, and impact change for marginalised people and be acknowledged as a subject matter expert in the community and spokesperson for people with Lived Experience. 

Through meaningful collaboration and partnerships, you will drive initiatives that enhance service quality and innovation, actively seeking, listening to, and acting on the insights of those with lived experience to improve and transform Life Without Barriers approach to delivering impactful and person-centred services.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop strong sustainable relationships with stakeholders to successfully implement and embed the Lived Experience Strategy ensuring feedback from those with lived experience is incorporated into the initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain safe, effective, connected, and person-centred relationships ensuring voices are heard and valued.
  • Stay abreast of industry events and relationships to support delivery of LWB outcomes including advice and information to sector colleagues where appropriate.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Chief Innovations Officer to ensure the Board, Executive and Management are empowered to use their role and influence to elevate the voice of those with lived experience.
  • Implementation of LWB’s diversity and inclusion agendas, and maintain oversight of its Access, Inclusion and Employment Plan by providing leadership, information, support and advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure LWB remains at the forefront of innovation in relation to Lived Experience policy, diversity and inclusion initiatives, strategy and service delivery.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of the latest developments within the sector to ensure the LWB can be provided with timely, relevant information in areas of significance.
  • Analyse current priorities and assess future fit to recommend changes to current alignment to LWB policies and strategy.

Qualifications & experience required: 

  • Demonstrated experience in leading co-design and co-production work in complex environments in a geographically dispersed organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior policy and practice role.
  • Demonstrated experience in research, data collection and analysis, and impact measurement.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build a shared understanding of, and commitment to LWB’s Purpose and Values.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency using plain English in written communication.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing sensitive information and maintaining high confidentiality.
