About the role
As part of our Far North Team based in Goonellabah, you will be responsible for leading, motivating and mentoring a team of dedicated youth support workers within a therapeutic residential setting. You'll play a key role in supporting Children & Young People to develop independent living skills, engage in education and remain positively connected to their team of Care Workers, Families, and broader community connections.
The Children & Young People we care for have experienced backgrounds of trauma, abuse and/or neglect and may also have a mental health, physical or psychosocial disability so you will work in partnership with a Therapeutic Specialist and Case Manager to lead the implementation of the CARE model and ensure a safe, homelike environment for the Children & Young People in our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage home in accordance with the CARE model, legislation, relevant standards, LWB policies and procedures and funding body requirements
- Provide direct care and support to children and young people within a residential care setting.
- Be actively present in the home environment, providing role modelling to staff
- Oversee and participate in the planning and implementation of therapeutic care plans
- Model and support staff in applying the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) system
- Manage, support and provide reflective supervision to your team
- Create and maintain rostering and staff availability patterns to ensure rosters are within budget and supports healthy work/life balance for all team members.

Skills & Experience
- A Diploma of Community Services, Youth work or related (A qualification is desirable but not essential for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants with relevant experience)
- Previous Leadership experience in services that support Children & Young people, such as OOHC and ITC settings
- Experience supporting people with disabilities, complex health needs and those whom exhibit pain based behaviours of concern
- Ability to provide supervision and support to a team of Therapeutic Care Workers, to embed the delivery of therapeutic models of support to Children & Young People.
- Current First Aid (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011) & CPR (HLTAID001 OR HLTAID009) Certificate/s
- Current Drivers Licence
