About the Application and Data Roadmap

Life Without Barriers has determined that transformation of its business processes and decision support capability is an important strategic initiative. It will require significant investment in new systems to support the transformation and is expected to be undertaken over multiple years. The roadmap has been developed and now requires business case development and then implementation. It will impact operations in all parts of the organisation seeking to improve productivity by automating manual processes and improve our engagement with the people we support as well as standardise our activities across the business.

About the role

in this newly created position, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer with direct dotted line reporting to the Deputy Chief Officers for Child Youth and Family (CYF) and Disability and Mental Health (DMH), you will oversee the creation of the CYF and DMH business case for the Application and Data Roadmap. You will lead the delivery of the business case once approved, ensuring the CYF and DMH teams are engaged and informed while acting as the conduit of information between the Information Communications and Technology (ICT) team and the relevant corporate team throughout project implementation.

You will build partnerships with executive leadership to understand and articulate business requirements and the insights required to deliver the required changes associated with the Application and Data Roadmap.

Further responsibilities include:

  • Lead, facilitate and coordinate activities across the functional and business teams to ensure roles, responsibilities and deliverables are understood and delivered on.
  • Monitor, coach, support, motivate and develop team members to enable them to deliver to the best of their ability.
  • Engage with ICT teams to determine capacity to deliver project work, and the need for supplementary resources to deliver according to project timelines.
  • Engage with the Project Management Office to prepare appropriate reporting documentation and make appropriate recommendations to allow Executive / Board to make informed decisions.
  • Develop governance frameworks and deliver governance for work approvals and other project decisions.
  • Engage with vendors to establish inputs into the process design, work package estimates and their commercial proposals and manage commercial agreements.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of a disciplined process transformation strategy, process and execution plan.

Experience and qualifications required: 

  • Extensive end to end business or information management experience in a human services or similar environment with multiple key stakeholders and priorities.
  • Program or project management and change management credentials / qualifications.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading cross functional teams to deliver change management programs, operating and influencing effectively across a large organisation.
  • Significant experience in managing complex IT integrations and setting up large programs for success.
  • Significant experience in managing competing priorities and to deliver high quality outcomes within agreed timeframes and operating systems once built.
  • Excellent skills and knowledge across relevant business functions so people can be effectively steered through the transition.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement within the context of high-risk matters.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration or other industry relevant business area; science technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM); computer science; data science; information systems or related field; or equivalent work experience.
