About the Role

As a Senior Carer Assessment and Engagement Officer, you will lead a team to attract potential new carers, complete assessment of potential carers, engaging with existing carers and maintaining the support and supervision of carers that do not have current placements, in line with Life Without Barriers standards, policies and procedures.

This is a permanent full time opportunity, offering the flexibility to be based anywhere within our NSW footprint, including hybrid work from home/office arrangements.  Please note: Regular travel to Northern NSW is a requirement of this position and a company vehicle is provided for this.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review carer assessments completed by other Assessors as directed by Carer Practice Manager and provide feedback to ensure consistency and quality in line with LWB standards.
  • Ensure the standard of written assessment meets agreed standards set by LWB.
  • Be available during Carer Panels to provide additional information to CPM and panel members if requested.
  • Line management responsibility for other salaried assessors which includes ensuring that staff reporting to the role receive regular scheduled supervision as determined by line manager.
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with applicants, internal and external stakeholders, agencies, and vendors.
  • Ensure active recruitment of carers from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds or those who are culturally and linguistically diverse.
  • Support and monitor teams progress towards completion of carer assessments and carer reviews producing regular reports and data analysis to senior leaders.
  • Contribute to regular review of assessment and review tools, ensuring these are focused on children’s outcomes and in accordance with the CARE model and relevant external standards.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients, agencies and vendors
  • Assist with the completion of carer reviews and carer assessments as required

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in human services, marketing, sales, recruitment, or other relevant field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Completed training in Shared Stories Shared Lives and Step-by-Step Training and Assessment Tools.
  • Candidates who are near completion of the Step-by-Step Training and Assessment Tool with previous experience in a similar role may be considered.
  • Experience and skills in undertaking child focused assessments and case work in a child and family setting.
  • Previous experience in supervising a team, including monitoring team progress, reporting on workplans, and tracking and delivering KPIs.
  • A strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written communication skills for report writing and data analysis.
  • Understanding of the demands and challenges facing carers in provided care to children and young people in Out of Home Care Placements.
  • An ability to identify an individual’s strengths and areas of improvement and any areas of concern within a foster care and/or kingship care environment.
  • Current Unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence.
