About the role

Join our new team in the voluntary subacute inpatient care and intervention program where you will promote recovery and positive change of people with mental illness on evidence based best practice. The role will be based at Orange's Bloomfield Hospital campus.

We are looking to fill one Maximum Term Part Time position (contract until June 2026, shift times are 8:30am to 5pm, 34 hours per fortnight) and one casual position. Saturday and Sunday availability is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist people to develop their capacity to live independently in the community and reach their potential
  • Support clients to develop their own support plans
  • Collaborate with clients, community, and support agencies such as mental health and housing for integrated and timely services
  • Monitor and review client’s health, family and cultural progress against their plan and provide up to date progress reports
  • Provide personalised active supports by promoting independent living, health management and social connectedness

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health or Peer Work
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from Diverse Cultural Backgrounds with specific reference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Demonstrated ability to positively engage, interact and work with people who have complex needs including psychosocial
  • Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of Mental Health supports, including a comprehensive grasp of the Recovery Framework and its underlying principles
  • Current First Aid Certificate including CPR
  • Current Drivers Licence and reliable vehicle and a minimum of third-party insurance

To be considered for and appointed to this position, you must hold the following vaccinations as per the NSW Health Requirements:

  • COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate
  • Hepatitis B
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (DTP)
  • Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella
  • Influenza
  • Willing to complete the Tuberculosis (TB) Assessment Tool

You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check (paid by us).
