About the role

As a Family Contact Worker within our Dubbo hub team, you will be responsible for facilitation supervised contact meetings between children & young people and their families/kinship connections. You may also be required to provide transportation (utilising your own vehicle), along with direct support and mentoring to children & young people.

These roles require flexibility to work a variety of shifts, generally of 3-5 hours duration, across a 7 day roster (including mornings, afternoons, evenings & weekends)

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and facilitate contact between the child and the parent or person designated to have contact
  • Be punctual and clear in the directions provided to participants attending the contact visit
  • Ensure safety and well-being of the child and those participating in the visit
  • Establish rapport with children and young people through mentoring or youth work
  • Provide transportation up-to 4 hours
  • Complete report writing after each contact with a child or young person
  • Access rostering and shift information through email and calendar

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in relative field or similar, or relevant experience and skills to undertake the position with the desire to complete relevant qualifications.
  • Current Australian Drivers licence
  • Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID003/HLTAID011) & Provide CPR (HLTAID009) certificate/s. 
  • Previous experience working with children & young people
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound computer skills – including email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
