Life Without Barriers is looking for Male Youth Mentor for the Murry Bridge area to join our Therapeutic Foster Care and CARE School Retention programs.

Within the Child, Youth and Family Program, Mentors are seen as an important part of the care team that supports a child or young person in care. Mentors work with children and young people under the Guardianship of the Chief Executive assisting them in a range of ways:

  • Modelling and establishing positive relationships with peers and adults.
  • Modelling appropriate behaviours in terms of interpersonal interaction, life skills, employment, education, and leisure.
  • Providing pathways or linkages to increased opportunities with education, employment and community connections.
  • Accessing and facilitating recreational and sporting activities.

A mentor will develop a close and trusting relationship with the young person, and this relationship becomes a catalyst for change and growth. It is this relationship that can nurture a young person’s sense of self, helping them to develop the social skills required to create their own friendships and providing a positive influence in their journey through care.
