About the Organisation

Enhance the lives of older Australians by joining the Life Without Barriers team. Guided by every client’s individual needs and interests, our personalised in-home Aged Care services focus on empowering every person to maintain their home comforts, health, and connections within their community.

Life Without Barriers is a leading social purpose organisation of 8,000 employees working in more than 500 communities across Australia. We support children, young people and families, people with disability, older people and people with mental illness. We work with people who are homeless and refugees and asylum seekers. Join a community of people dedicated to breaking down barriers.

We want to employ people who reflect the diversity of our clients to ensure we can support each client's individual needs and wants. We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.

About the Role

As an Aged Care Home & Community Assistant, you'll support older Australians to remain independent in their own homes by assisting with everyday tasks and building meaningful connections. You'll travel between clients' homes within a local area, so a willingness to drive between appointments is essential.

We have casual opportunities available across the following locations, with work typically provided within a 30-minute radius:

  • Coastal South: Marion, Seacliff, Hallett Cove, Happy Valley and Aberfoyle Park
  • Inner South: Morphettville, Edwardstown, Mitcham and surrounding suburbs

Shifts are available between 7:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, with a minimum shift length of 2 hours. There are no weekend, overnight or sleepover shifts, making this an ideal role for anyone looking to build experience in the care sector.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on your experience and qualifications, you may support clients with:

  • Domestic assistance, including light household cleaning and meal preparation
  • Social support and companionship
  • Building positive relationships with clients and their families
  • Supporting clients to maintain their independence and wellbeing

Candidates without qualifications will initially focus on domestic assistance and community support tasks. As you gain experience, there may be opportunities to undertake additional training and progress into personal care responsibilities.

Skills & Experience

We're looking for people who are:

  • Compassionate, reliable and eager to help others
  • Great communicators who enjoy building relationships
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Passionate about making a positive impact in their local community
  • Hold a current Australian Driver's Licence and have access to a reliable vehicle with minimum third-party insurance

We welcome applications from people starting their career in care and provide training and support to help you succeed.

If you already hold a Certificate III in Individual Support, Ageing Support or similar, you'll have the opportunity to provide a broader range of support, including personal care.

Benefits

  • No formal qualification required - full training and ongoing support provided
  • A great first step into the aged care and community services sector
  • Flexible casual work with weekday shifts only
  • Minimum 2-hour shifts
  • Kilometre reimbursement while working
  • Casual hourly rate from $43.02 + Super
  • Access to Fitness Passport
  • Discounts and benefits at leading retailers, restaurants and entertainment providers
  • Make a genuine difference in the lives of older Australians every day
