About the Role

As a Mental Health Support worker in Broome, you will provide 1:1 Mental Health Support to a person with a mental health diagnosis who is accessing our Individualised Community Living Strategy (ICLS) program.

This is a casual position with shifts across Monday to Friday, between 8am - 5pm in which you will help the person being supported access local services and maximise their recovery success.

Successful candidates will have previous experience working 1:1 with people with mental illness or psychosocial disability, strong communication skills and confidence in working independently within the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated support to clients with a mental health diagnosis
• Work towards client's recovery and community living goals
• Coach and encourage independence through daily routines and decision-making
• Assist with and empower the client to take control of their daily living
• Encourage community access and engagement in local activities
• Support capacity building and self-management of lifestyle and wellbeing
• Work collaboratively with clinical and mental health support teams
• Follow and contribute to individualised support plans

Skills & Experience

• Certificate IV in Mental Health (or equivalent experience)
• Experience working with people with mental illness or psycho-social disability 
• Passionate about client outcomes and mental health advocacy
• High computer literacy and administration skills
• Unrestricted Western Australian driver’s licence
• Access to a reliable vehicle
• A current First Aid and CPR certificate
