                    Role: Therapeutic Specialist (Child, Youth & Family)

                    Location: Geraldton, WA

                    Employment Type: Permanent Full Time - Monday to Friday only!

                    Remuneration: From $115k base + $7k remote allowance

In this role, you will conduct assessments and develop therapeutic care plans and positive behaviour support plans for Children and Young People in our care, many of whom have experienced complex trauma, abuse or neglect.

You will also oversee the implementation of these plans and provide ongoing practice support, training, and reflective supervision to our care teams, helping to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed support for children and young people in care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, intervention and reporting for Children and young people in care.
  • Develop, review and support the implementation of person centred, evidence based plans, such as therapeutic care plans and positive behaviour support plans
  • Facilitate regular reflective practice and clinical support sessions for direct care staff and guide the effective use of strategies to prevent and respond to pain based behaviour.
  • Contribute to intake assessment and client matching, supporting the transition of Children & Young People into homes.
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of the Children and Residential Experiences (CARE) and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) models to deliver

 Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with Children and Young People in OOHC, ideally in an Intensive Therapeutic Care setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or related.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the professional body relevant to qualification.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of child development and complex trauma and its effects on children and young people in out of home care
  • Experience using evidence based assessment tools with young people with trauma informed behaviour (ideally within a residential care or foster/kinship care setting)
  • Current Driver’s Licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, WA Working with Children Check and WA DCP395 Check.
