About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Safeguarding, you will lead the monitoring and management of high-risk client incidents and events nationally across the Child Youth and Family (CYF) division. You’ll work closely with State Directors, the National Safeguarding Unit (NSU), the Office for General Counsel, and other key stakeholders to ensure appropriate responses to high risk client incidents, prepare safeguarding practice reviews, and monitor continuous improvement in safeguarding practice.
A key focus of this role is to uplift safeguarding capability across teams, supporting staff development, embedding best practice, and driving proactive learning across the organisation. Drawing on your strong sector experience, you’ll provide leadership and insight in shaping national safeguarding responses.
This is a permanent, full time position offering flexibility to work from your preferred location, whether that is your home or from an LWB office. Occasional office attendance will be required for training, meetings, and other business needs. While core business hours apply, there may be occasions where support is required outside standard hours for urgent or critical matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and coordinate responses to high-risk client incidents, supporting Client Service Directors to ensure timely and appropriate action
- Lead safeguarding practice reviews, identifying learnings and embedding improvements across the program
- Oversee external reviews and ensure recommendations are actioned locally and reflected in national service improvement initiatives
- Identify trends in client incidents and complaints, advising on corrective actions and preventative strategies
- Manage complex matters including client death reviews, high-risk complaints, and regulatory responses
- Provide regular analysis and reporting to senior leaders, supporting data-informed decision-making
- Maintain effective internal communication regarding safeguarding actions and follow-ups
- Partner with the Office for General Counsel to manage organisational risk and ensure quality in external submissions
Skills & Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Demonstrated experience in managing safeguarding and client incidents in the Child Youth and Family sector
- In-depth understanding of safeguarding legislation, policy, and regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to lead and uplift safeguarding capability across teams or organisations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex, sensitive issues
- Experience working with senior internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent written communication skills, including reporting and correspondence
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and incident data management systems
