About the role

Provide personalised coaching and mentoring to a team of Disability Support Workers, focusing on skill development and best practices, while overseeing the operations of Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes within the Broken Hill area. The role involves an on-call component as well as occasional travel and shift work. 

​​​​​​​Our Lifestyle Supports program groups together a number of different types of activities for those with NDIS Core Support funding. These supports are delivered to individuals to access their local community, and build their independence and skills. They can be individualised one to one supports or group supports; community, centre or hub based, or delivered in the client’s home (personal care, domestic assistance etc.).

The successful candidate will have leadership experience and an understanding of the disability sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to work autonomously manage budgets, compliance, reporting and staff ratios of services
  • Lead and support a team of 30 Disability Support Workers
  • Ensure staff are skilled and knowledgeable in the delivery of disability services and ensuring active support of clients
  • Facilitate and manage a partnership approach with families and supporters
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, ensuring national consistency in delivering a positive service
  • Manage, monitor, and report on incidents and complaints
  • Maintaining clear role distinctions while offering support and mentorship to a team
  • Advocate for clients in relation to Human Rights with a sound understanding of Restrictive Practices

Skills & Experience

  • Previous leadership experience within the delivery of services to people with a disability
  • Experience in supporting clients with complex care needs and high behaviours 
  • Diploma in relevant Social & Community Services or relevant experience
  • Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Established influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to think creatively and use initiative whilst utilising leadership capability to make an impact in the sector

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
