About the role

This position is identified for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to join our Conduct and Professional Standards Team.  You will conduct high quality, timely and fair investigations into serious misconduct matters related to employees and contractors. You will undertake investigations into reportable allegations of abuse and neglect of children, young people and people with disabilities by LWB staff, contractors and foster carers. As a valued member of the in-house Employment Relations team with strong connections to the National Safeguarding Unit (NSU), your insights will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and practice improvements within a values based and agile organisation.

This role blends office and remote work, requiring you to be based at our Box Hill office with the flexibility to work remotely from home. This is a permanent full time position, with travel expected across Victoria and occasional to Tasmania as required.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations into allegations of reportable conduct within the Child Youth and Family program and disability reportable incidents against Life Without Barriers staff, contractors and foster carers, within the framework stipulated by state and territory jurisdictions.
  • Conduct workplace investigations into serious misconduct matters across the business.
  • Engage and partner with stakeholders both internal and external to LWB, to achieve positive outcomes for our clients and ensure expeditious investigations are completed to the highest quality standards.
  • Support and enhance cultural competence within Conduct and Professional Standards Team initiatives.
  • Complete investigation plans, conduct investigative interviews, analyse evidence, make recommendations in relation to findings and complete investigation reports.
  • Identify and provide recommendations in relation to practice improvement opportunities to mitigate risks to children, young people and vulnerable clients.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in investigations, human resources and/or social welfare field
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting high quality investigations within the framework of the respective jurisdictions
  • Experience in the field of child protection and/or the disability sector will be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in conducting investigative interviews with children, adults and vulnerable persons.
  • Demonstrated high level analytical ability and sound judgement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt to stakeholder audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting complex case conferences/discussions – your case management skills will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated ability in time management, organisational skills and well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Current Driver’s Licence and own reliable transport
  • Demonstrated commitment to process improvement and the care and protection of children, young people and people with a disability.
  • Ability to handle sensitive material, demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and operate with integrity and honesty
