About the Role
We are looking for caring and responsible support workers who reflect the Life Without Barriers values and are passionate about helping others. As a Support Worker, you will actively support the individual needs of elderly Australians who access our Community Care services in Toowoomba and surrounding local areas. You will help our clients to continue living independently in their own homes through the provision of domestic assistance, social support and personal care. You will assist multiple clients throughout the day and be required to provide transport for clients, having a willingness to travel is a must.
This is a casual position requiring a minimum commitment of 3 days per week. Flexible hours are available, including options during school hours if needed. The role is Monday to Friday, no evenings, weekends, or sleepovers required. Travel within a 40 km radius is necessary. While this is a casual role, permanent part-time opportunities will be offered as they become available.
Key Responsibilities
- Predominantly domestic assistance duties. This consists of light cleaning duties, changing of bed linen, washing/laundry
- In-home supports inclusive of meal preparation and assistance with daily living
- Social supports inclusive of support to attend medical appointments, social activities in the local community, building/maintaining social networks
- Personal care inclusive of showering, daily hygiene, monitoring of health and well-being (for example, identification of wound care needs, skin integrity, etc)
Skills & Experience
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or similar) required
- Passionate about making a positive impact in our ageing community
- An Australian Driver’s Licence and ownership of a registered vehicle
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships
- A current First Aid and CPR Certificate (must be obtained prior to employment)
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check.
To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.
