About the role

This opportunity presents a demanding yet deeply fulfilling prospect for you to make a positive change in the lives of people with disability. Provide one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities in their homes or the community, with travel between clients and working short, split shifts required.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience working independently with complex disability support needs including non-verbal, varying levels of physical aggression and behaviours of concerns 
  • Assist in the delivery of services that facilitate client’s development of social networks
  • Encourage community activities in line with LWB policies and procedures focussing on increasing awareness of healthy lifestyle options and reducing social isolation
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals of people with disabilities
  • The ability to develop a positive relationship with service users and to support their Individual Personal Plan

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • An unrestricted New South Wales driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
  • A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, NDIS and Working with Children Checks (where relevant to the role).
