About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centred active support to people living with disability in Edgeworth, NSW. You will play a vital role in uplifting individuals facing mental health challenges and disability, empowering them to reach their full potential and enhance their overall well-being.

Our Supported Independent Living services help individuals live comfortably and independently in shared housing or in their home, offering assistance with daily tasks such as personal care and meal preparation. These supports are most suitable to individuals who can work flexibly across a 24/7 roster. Ability to work sleepovers is REQUIRED.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting clients through personal care (such as bathing, shaving, and toileting), manual handling, and providing mental health and behavioural support for those with significant behaviours of concern and high medical needs
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow person centred support plans whilst maintaining flexibility to the circumstances and preferences of each client you support
  • Track and document the changing needs of clients through thorough record-keeping
  • Advocate for client choice and control in a safe and compliant manner, while supporting them to actively engage and create a sense of belonging within their community

Skills & Experience

  • Experience with behaviours of concern and mental health supports required
  • A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011
  • A current Mental Health First Aid Certificate highly regarded
  • An unrestricted New South Wales driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Committed to work flexible work hours across the week, including public holidays
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop

Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
