About the Role

Bring your driver experience and passion for making a positive impact in your local community to this permanent full time driving instructor position, delivering theory and practical driving instruction to clients of Life Without Barriers, enhancing the capacity of local community driver training and education.

The successful candidate will hold a current WA manual driving licence, a WA driving instructor licence (or be willing to obtain with LWB’s support) and have a keen interest in working within the community services sector. Candidates with experience as a bus driver, delivery driver or similar will be highly regarded.

This is a permanent full-time position, from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver practical and theory Manual Driver Licence education to target clients ensuring that appropriate records are maintained.
  • Support and promote engagement with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and community groups.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings and/or training where required.
  • Ensure that assets including Driver funded vehicles are maintained to a high standard.

Skills & Experience

  • A current WA Manual Driving Licence
  • A current WA Driving Instructor Licence (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work effectively with youth and adults with challenging behaviours.
  • Demonstrated experience of working unsupervised in rural and remote regions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the issues faced by Aboriginal people and communities.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Working with Children Check and DCP395 check.
