About the role
This is a great opportunity to enter a front-line management role with enormous potential. The role is responsible for providing support and information for people with disabilities, across their life cycle and in all domains of life, to enable access to a quality life with dignity, respect and social inclusion in the least restrictive environment.
As the successful new addition to our team, we need you to actively demonstrate previous successes working clients with behaviours of concern and people requiring mental health supports. You will have proven experience in working in group homes and have a sound knowledge of relevant legislation as well as excellent skills in communicating effectively with a diverse group of key stakeholders as a leader, mentor and advocate for clients and staff alike. You must be a hands-on team player with leadership capabilities able to support the House Supervisor as a 2IC promote and provide best practice support to clients as well as supervision and mentoring of other team members.
This is a mixed house 5 residents – with complex high behaviour support needs, requiring experience managing complex behaviours of concern and providing assistance with physical support, mostly ambulant 2 clients walking with frames. All clients are good communicators and one is able to sign.
This is a great opportunity to make a difference in assisting these clients achieve their individual goals (positive high functioning clients with positive decision-making capabilities).
The Roster line is days/evenings with no sleepover or active nights requirements. Every second weekend off Sat/Sun & Monday. The team are experienced staff and are ready and willing to provide positive mentoring support.
- Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management or equivalent Disability related qualification - candidates currently studying for this qualification may be considered depending upon experience.
- Current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Level 2 First Aid Certificate
- Full driver’s licence
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is an essential pre-requisite
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
