Position: Carer Assessor
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
In this role, your responsibilities will involve evaluating foster care applicants and renewing carer authorisations, in accordance with Life Without Barriers standards, policies and procedures.
You will complete high-quality carer assessments, home visits, and reviews to ensure carers are prepared and supported to provide safe, nurturing environments for children and young people.
- Complete carer assessments in line with the local recruitment plan, including home visits, meetings, and referee checks
- Ensure assessments and reviews meet agreed standards and clearly identify carers’ development needs
- Identify and address training needs, safety concerns, and placement issues, providing feedback and recommendations to the care team
- Support prospective carers to reflect on the impact of the caring role on their life, family, and relationships
- Review established LWB carers in accordance with LWB policy and contribute to corporate review of assessment tools
- Provide supervision
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body
- Completion of Share Stories Share Lives and Step-by-Step Training and Assessment Tools accreditation
- Experience in the child and family welfare sector, including conducting carer assessments and reviews
- Ability to assess carers’ strengths and development needs, with a focus on permanency outcomes for children
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders
- Highly developed analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Current unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and TAS Working with Vulnerable People check.
