About the Role
The residential program based in Fremantle provides community-based homeless youth services to young people between 17 and 22 years of age, who show signs and symptoms of mental illness while homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The Senior Support Worker will promote positive mental health by supporting those in our service through involvement in delivering safe services, encouraging recovery and individual creativity, and embracing a holistic approach to wellness. Reporting to the Team Leader of Mental Health, this role has oversight of the direct care services to clients, training, supervision of the team, and monitoring of the program's performance and effectiveness.
This is a permanent part time position of 64 hours per fortnight. The successful candidate must be able to commit to the following roster:
- Week 1 – Tue, Wed, Thu and Fri 14:30 – 22:30
- Week 2 – Wed, Thu, Fri and Sat 14:30 – 22:30
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general care and supervision to young people accessing the service
- Maintain a supportive and safe working environment
- Undertake activities in accordance with the care plan and funding arrangements
- Ensure the CIRTS database is up to date
- Monitor and maintain high quality documentation and provide detailed information to inform the development of care plans and service delivery
- Assist with the supervision, guidance and support of support workers
- Provide support and assistance to the Team Leader
Skills & Experience
- Certificate IV in Mental Health
- Previous experience in working with people who have a mental health issue and who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Experience working within a recovery framework with young people
- Demonstrated experience in developing care plans or individual plans
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring staff
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Driver Licence
