About the Role


Permanent part time Therapeutic Specialist role where you will be joining a brand-new service providing specialist therapeutic and disability support to children in out of home care in the Geelong region. The role will come with a Tool of Trade vehicle (including fuel card) that can be garaged at the successful persons private residence. 

This role provides flexibility to work from either home or our Geelong office – wherever you work best. However, as you will hold a case load you will need to travel throughout Geelong as required. This is a permanent part time (30 hours per week) position that can be 4 days or shorter days across 5 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of CARE and TCI and ensure the core principles of the CARE model are applied in all therapeutic interventions 
  • Ensure that consistent quality therapeutic care consistent with the CARE model is delivered to Children and Young People
  • Provide expertise and guidance during the formulation of Therapeutic Care Plans, Individual Crisis Management Plans, Positive Behavioural Support Plans and similar
  • Encourage innovative multidisciplinary responses to the individual needs of children, young people
  • Lead reflective practice processes and provide consultation to support our front line staff in relation to clients with complex support needs
  • Participate in CARE and TCI training ensuring that these frameworks and tools guide our work with all clients across the organisation

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in allied health professions such as Psychology, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work
  • Current registration with the professional body relevant to your qualification
  • Current VIC driver’s license
  • Experience in a therapeutic care setting or working in a clinical environment with Children and Young People in Out of Home Care
  • Significant experience using evidence-based assessment tools with young people with trauma informed behaviour
  • Working knowledge and implementation of trauma informed Positive Behaviour Support
